About us

The Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People is a socially responsible organisation, have to involve in many social projects in the state of West Bengal in India.
Operating some Non-formal, Special School for hearing Impaired, Mentally challenge and Cerebral Palsy children age group 0-18 since the year 2001 for education with various therapeutic activities through regular classes and integrating our students with special needs into mainstream schools.
Run some vocational training centers and workshop at the centre viz. computer, tailoring etc, where women, parents are also trained along with Persons with Disabilities since the year 2001. Have a Unit for employment and rehabilitation of the poor women with disabilities.
Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People also provided Community Based Rehabilitation service to severely disabled people at the rural area, there goes to our Itinerant teacher and given delivery service at the door of disabled people. Mainly we are working in the field of education and their rehabilitation oriented.
Beside this, our organisation works in the rural areas outside Kolkata as well as its urban slums by forming community-based self-help groups led by local community workers. Group members participate in awareness programs on gender and rights and in workshops on income-generating activities, like Tailoring, embroidery and Potential leaders, identified from SHGs, participate in leadership trainings that develop the skills needed to be effective leaders, deepen awareness of human rights and women’s rights, and strengthen the communications skills needed in successful advocacy.

Potential Long-Term Impact:

1. The project will educate 2000 disabled helpless children allowing them to rise included of education, which will provide for their families’ health and well-being.

2. We place nearly 2000 disabled in new home.

3. We performed more than 2000 surgeries in our high-volume, low cost clinic.

4. We worked to keep disabled children healthy by providing more than 10,000 vaccinations

5. We helped more than 1200 sick and frightened trough temporary placement with faster care volunteers. And we assisted more than 3000 people through self standing by providing training.
